A Word From RonBuck.Com
Poets make little money, even the "big names" in poetry have to subsidize their income with a "real job". Some of us have many "real jobs" to make the margin. And many of us take that money to pursue
our calling by publishing and recording our own work. But even that endeavor costs more than it reaps. We enter a myriad of contests, Chapbook, Theme, Long Poem, Short Poem, Local, Regional, National, and International. We enter these contests more for exposure than the cash. And this contest is no different, except that the prize-winner will be heard by an audience, not just read. This may not sound like much, but my experience has been that when an audience hears the poet at his/her best, the exposure has a connection of intimacy not afforded by the written word alone, and doors open a lot faster! And this is the foremost reason for my offering The Calling Card Prize.
A Word From TJMF Publishing
TJMF Publishing was founded in 2001 and has actively assisted in
the publishing of 16 books for deserving authors. With a unique cooperative program publishing is under the control of the one person most interested, the author. TJMF is pleased to be involved in
The Calling Card Prize for Audio Poetry.
The Competition
All entrants will be judged on Content (the poem itself), Reading (audio rendition), and Production Value (can we hear it, overlay tracks (if present, but not necessary), etc.).
Blind Preliminary Round
Three Preliminary Round judges will listen independently to all the entrants and pick 10 finalists, which they will rate from 1-10 (1 being their best audio work selection).
Second Round
The lists will then be compared by the final round judges to determine the 10 finalists.
Final Round
The Final Round judges will listen independently to the 10 finalists, which they will rate from 1-10 (1 being their best audio work selection). Upon completion of the two lists, the Final Round judges will confer to determine the winning poem.
